WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF GETTING COACHING?
People seek out coaching for many reasons. It is often because they are stuck in a professional or personal cycle that they want to break or they are unable to see their way through to fulfill a specific goal. Coaching is all about working together to help the client make connections to the things that matter to them most.
WHAT SHOULD THE CLIENT BRING TO THEIR COACHING SESSION?
Many clients decide to purchase a special journal just for their coaching journey. However a notepad or some loose paper also works. The following are recommended supplies for each session:
- A Journal, Notebook or Loose Paper
- A Pen or Pencil
- A Highlighter
You will use your journal to track your thoughts, experiences and progress. This practice will help you build important self awareness which is proven to help move you closer to your goals.
The highlighter is best used for those “A Ha!” moments. There are always a few moments that come with an “Ouch”. However, please trust that the highs and lows of this experience will help you see things from important perspectives that may have been missed.
WHY ARE TOOL LIKE THE WELLNESS WHEEL IMPORTANT?
During the sessions, some tools may help with specific assessment to improve client outcomes. For example, in health and wellness coaching, the wellness wheel is used to clarify areas that need balance. Building this awareness improves client focus and helps to ensure key goals are identified.
HOW IS MEDITATION USED IN OUR SESSIONS?
Guided mindful meditation is used as needed and at the clients request. Some clients may want meditation before the start of a session to clear their mind others may find it useful to close out a session. Of course there are benefits between as well to commit to the deeper learning experience since meditation is a source of not only focusing but quieting the mind.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE SESSION?
The below is just an example since all sessions are tailored to the clients needs. However, most sessions are as follows:
- Client decompression from any distractions that day or week
- Establish a goal for the day or hour.
- Guided meditation focused on the goal – centering the mind on the goal
- Coaching or facilitation of goal achievement
- Close out to summarize learning and goal achievement confirmation
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COACHING AND MENTORING?
Coaching: A partner that engages in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires helps them tap into their own ability to solve problems.
Mentoring: An experienced leader providing trusted advice, counsel and guidance.
